The movie “Spider-Man:Into the Spider-Verse”, is all about an African-American Latin teenager that lives in Brooklyn, New York City. This teenager is Miles Gonzalo Morales. Miles is an intelligent 14-year old who takes after his parents; Jefferson Davis and Rio Morales. Jefferson is a policeman in Brooklyn while on the other hand, Rio is a housewife. Miles faces the cultural experience of being an Afro-Latin teenager in Brooklyn. Because of this, Miles needs to take every opportunity he can get. So when he won a scholarly exam to go to a prestigious school in Brooklyn (Brooklyn Visions Academy), he took the opportunity; albeit reluctantly. When Miles showed his objection of studying in Brooklyn Visions Academy by saying “I just think that this new school is elitist” and “I would prefer to be at a normal school among the people”, his dad replies “You have an opportunity here. You wanna blow that?”. Evidently, his dad implies that he does not have a choice in the matter and that if he misses this opportunity, he would have ended up like his uncle.
